When your hair is thin, ad you want extra volume, you have the option to buy extensions and create a thin and healthy look in minutes. But what can you do when the section of your hair that is thinning, is on the top of your head, or in a prominent position? What can you do if you’ve completely lost your hair, or sections of it, whether through stress, medical problems, alopecia, chemotherapy, or trichotillomania? That’s when hair toppers come to your rescue!

Hair toppers are secured to the top of the head with usually 4 clips, and can be worn every day with no issues. The clips are like tiny combs, and gently clip onto your existing hair with a snap. They are extremely secure, and are placed on the topper in a way that ensures that the topper, once on, does not move.

Toppers that are made from 100% human hair only need washing once every 6 weeks, and can be cared for and styled the same as you would natural hair. Using a shampoo that is free from sulphates and silicones ensures that your topper will last longer, and remain in wonderful condition for the entirety of its life. Once you have shampooed the topper, you can use conditioner also. This could be a wash out one, or a leave in type. You can use heat tools to dry your topper, or you can leave it to air dry. Once your topper is fully dry, you can style your topper the same as you would your natural hair. Brush your topper regularly, but brush from the ends of the hair and work your way up. This technique minimises hair loss.

Always store your topper properly when you’re not using it, by using a wig stand or mannequin head, or placing it on a flat surface out of direct sunlight, to get the longest duration of use from your topper.

When you first book in with us at the Cheshire Hair Clinic For Her, whether through a phone call to the salon, or a message with our social media team we take a small deposit to secure your booking. This deposit also can be used against the purchase of a topper, should you go ahead with the process. 

Once your consultation day arrives, you will come to visit us in the salon and have around 1 hour with our stylist Sally. With her you can talk about what issues you are having, and all your hopes and expectations for the end result. Sally will advise you on the best options for your situation, and from there, she will talk you through the next steps if you decide to go ahead with purchasing a topper.

You can also try on the different options we have in the salon, so you get a look and feel of the quality and the experience of wearing a topper.

Our hair systems are 100% human hair, to make sure you get the best from our hair systems we recommend using certain products to keep the system in tip top condition. All the products we recommend are mild and gentle, without any harsh cleaning agents or alcohol which could dry the the system out and reduce its lifespan.

Although you can do pretty much everything and anything when wearing your topper, there are a couple of tings we recommend you avoid. These are sleeping with your topper on, and swimming with your topper on. Even though you can style your topper in whatever way you choose, we also recommend that you style your natural hair first, then style the topper in the same way when it is placed on your wig stand or mannequin head, to minimise hair loss or any damage.
